Women are doing great at poker WSOP 1i13x

Last week we saw five women remaining in the 6th day of the WSOP Main event. We think that is pretty good going, considering the fact that it has been seventeen years since a woman has been seen at the main event tables. It has been really unfortunate that no woman has ever won the WSOP main event, but this could be set to change since the advent of online poker, together with the rise and rise of the female poker player.
Elisabeth Hille did exceptionally well and ended the day 18th in chips. Vanessa Selbst won a Gold Bracelet, and this is the second WSOP bracelet that she can claim to fame. She is the second woman who has ever won two open WSOP events, the first being Jennifer Harman. The Ladies’ Event champion this year was Yen Dang. So, let’s have a closer look at some of these ladies who are not afraid to take a gamble against the big boys.
Vanessa Selbst is a pro player at the PokerStars website; she hasn’t been long on the team but is already proving her worth. If this online poker site wishes to attract more lady players, this is the girl who will do it for them. She was born in Brooklyn – New York – in 1984 and is a Yale University graduate. It has become far more evident in recent times that exceptionally bright people make exceptionally good poker players.
During her freshman year she started playing poker with her friends, and worked on her cash game at the hold'em since then. Taking down title after title, her biggest win ever was in April 2010, this was the highlight of her poker career – winning $750 000 and the title at the North American Poker Tour Main Event.
Elizabeth Hille – this Norwegian beauty represents the Norway poker community and left poker pros impressed by her performance at the WSOP Main Event this year (2012). Her background is in online poker, and what stunned the poker community at this tournament even more, is, these were her first live cashes. She is also only the second woman – after Barbara Enright – to reach the final World Series Of Poker Main Event table.
This year’s Ladies Champion of the 2012 WSOP – Yen Dang – is a Vietnam-born poker pro from Denver Colorado. She excelled over a field of 936 players for a total prize pool of $842,400. The 29 year-old scored the biggest win of her career with a prize of $170,587. Again both beauty and brains play a role - she discovered poker in a home game while studying law. Professional poker soon became her full-time job. Other ladies who made good money at this years’ WSOP include but are not limited to Mandy Ba, Jamie Kerstetter, Erica Schoen berg, Leo Margets, Stacey Nutini, J.J. Liu, Lisa Parsons, and Marsha Wolak.
