NextGen Gaming, now under the ownership of the NYX Gaming Group, has built a good reputation for its innovation and creativity when it comes to deg video slot games. This innovation and creativity are all well-represented in the video slot game titled Crocodopolis. 5g3p72
Crocodopolis is another in a long line of video slot games that have an Egyptian theme. While the game title might not make that clear, the game motif and symbols leave little doubt it. The game background is set against a desert oasis. All of the graphics and color choices were made in of the game's theme.
The game format comes with 5 reels and 25 pay lines. From a gambler's perspective, the game's wagering limits would be considered ultra-conservative. The minimum bet allowed is $.01 per pay line with a maximum bet of $2.00 per pay line. At a wager ranging from $.01 - $50.00 per spin, beginners and novice players have a chance for some decent jackpots with less risk than many other video slots may offer.
The low-paying standard symbols are represented by playing card numbers ranging from 9 through the Ace, plus ancient Egyptian icons such as an onyx cross, a scroll and Egyptian tribal head dress. The wild symbol is represented by the Egyptian "Croc" head dress. It is used to substitute for the other symbols with the exception of the game's scatter symbol, which is represented by ancient Pyramids.
NextGen game developers showed their creativity with the game's "slide-a-wild" feature. At the top of the matrix is a slider. Prior to spinning, the player can place the slider over any of the five reels. If a wild symbol lands on that particular reel, the wild expands and creates multipliers of 2X or 3X the winning amount.
The scatter only appears on reels 2, 3 and 4. If the player lands a scatter on all three of those reels, they are awarded 12 free spins that include a 2X multiplier for all winnings accumulated during the free spins round.
Verdict: With Crocodopolis, NextGen gaming has created an enigma. On one hand, the game lacks depth because of its simplistic video and audio features and the lack of a bonus game. On the plus side, it's always nice to try out a game that has a unique feature like slide-a-wild. This game won't hold much appeal for high-rollers and experienced slot players, but beginners and novice might enjoy the chance to play a slot game with low risk, but interesting features.
